Other MHTC Grant Opportunities

Action Research Grants
Action research projects originate in the classroom, based upon real and relevant classroom concerns. The aim of action research is to improve teaching and learning, and the topics it covers are virtually limitless. Such projects partner practioners and college faculty members.

The professionals who will use or benefit from the project are involved together in the planning of the study, data collection, and interpretation of the results. In other words, the classroom teacher and researcher enter the process of action research as equal partners who are fully engaged as working participants.

Examples of action research projects might include:

  • Determining the effectiveness of a particular, innovative reading strategy with a student.
  • Evaluating the use of a specific piece of software to teach students to write.
  • Comparing the use of two different approaches to the teaching of double-digit addition.

Summer Study Stipends
On occasion, the teacher center offers Summer Study Stipends to member educators with the intention of supporting study that will improve their practice and deepen their knowledge base.
