Mastering High School Math Takes Practice: Learning Strategies Beyond Worksheets In the next school year, we will be entering into the final phase of the NEW state standards for Mathematics. Concurrently, we are being held accountable to increase the achievement level for all students in all grade levels. Participate in a hands-on workshop taught by and for mathematics teachers. A full range of math content from Algebra through AP Calculus will be used in all models and strategies. Explore alternative teaching and learning strategies for MST Process and Content Strands including: classroom activities for modeling & visualization, summarization strategies and study aids, active participation techniques, music & movement, alternative assessments & differentiated instruction, modifying your classroom routine, technology tips (Bring your graphing calculator!), math vocabulary building and literacy techniques. Participants are asked to bring any or all of the following to help in creating classroom samples: course scope & sequence, curriculum maps, textbooks, plan books. In an effort to give districts more time to apply for and implement our Closing An Achievement Gap Grant, MHTC is making the Grant Application available much earlier this year. Access the PDF and Word® versions of the application here. Applications for New Grants and/or Continuation Grants will be accepted beginning September 08, 2008. |
