Four Square Writing Training, Grades 1-8	Four Square Writing Training, Grades 1-8 Learn the method that has become the answer for so many language arts teachers across the country! Join us to experience a step-by-step method that can help all writers to focus, organize and support their writing. Based on an easy-to-learn graphic organizer, this method can be used across the curriculum and is a great aid in preparing students for writing assessments. Topics include: -Parental involvement in language learning -Use of scoring rubrics in writing and reading -Encouraging students to use meaningful detail and support -Learning about the graphic organizer to help students achieve high scores on the writing assessments Participants will leave this workshop with dozens of strategies to improve expository, persuasive and narrative writing in their classrooms. From the Director: Continuing the Vision	The recent difficult NY State budget process should be a reminder to us of the need to continuously inform our constituents of the work we are engaged in and how it positively impacts the skills of teachers and the performance of students. The securing of full funding for Teacher Centers in this year of tight budget constraints is a testament to the influence and vision of NYSUT, a testament to the importance of professional development in our efforts to close the achievement gap and a testament to the quality of programs offered by NY State Teacher Centers. Now, more than ever, we need to insure our programs meet constituent needs, promote and celebrate our successes, thank our supporters and continue to collaborate with partners in the educational community.
